The US won the competition at Western Gailes by 10 points to 8. 2. The Scottish Amateur Championship has been played 7 times at Western Gailes. Ronnie Shade on his way to victory at Western in 1966, the middle of a run of 5 consecutive victories in the Championship. 3. Jack McLean won his third consecutive Scottish Amateur Championship at Western in 1934. 4 & 5 Billy Jack, a Western Gailes member, with a course record 66, takes the lead in the 1964 Professional Golfers Association Championship at Western Gailes. 6. Belle Robertson, the only Scottish member of the 1972 GB & Ireland Curtis Cup Team holing out at Western.
