The Scottish Amateur Championship returned to Western Gailes in July 2011. This was the eighth time this event has been played at Western Gailes. David Law of Hazelhead Golf Club won the Championship.
European Men's Amateur Team Championship
One of the premier events in the European amateur golfing calendar, the European Men's Amateur Team Championship, returned to Scotland in July 2007, for only the second time in its 48 year history. Western Gailes was delighted to host the event.
The Senior Open
21st July 2008, Western Gailes hosted qualifying for the British Seniors Open. Adrian Morrow of Ireland led the field with a score of 70, the only competitor to record a score under par on a challenging day. A total of 15 competitors qualified.
The Open Final Qualifying
Qualifying for The 2009 Open at Turnberry was held at Western Gailes on 6th and 7th July. A field of 96 competitors took the challenge of qualifying at Western Gailes. Only one competitor, Fredrik Andersson Hed of Sweden, completed both rounds under par, and was the leading qualifier. Three other competitors also qualified to play at Turnberry.
